Madeleine: Gallardo and Blaine Designs – Crafter of the Week

Madeleine has been making jewellery for 15 years after travelling the world and witnessing both the ancient and modern arts. She was taumadeleine-blaine-photoght the art of silversmithing in the mountains of south Mexico, where she lived for many years improving her technique and collecting gemstones.

Much of the colour and vibrancy of the country can still be seen in her designs today. One of Madeleine’s other great inspirations is nature and this is reflected in the organic and flowing forms she uses in her jewellery.  Her love of colour has her using a mixturgb160816-076_b_1000px-willow-ringe of both silver and gold with bright , dazzling gemstones.

She sources all the gemstones herself from around the world. Each piece she makes has a mixture of traditional
silversmithing techniques and the ‘lost wax process’ for casting whereby a mould is made of the original piece and then finished by hand and the stones set. Art nouveau with a modern twist.
