One of the UK’s Leading Craft Shows- back for the nineteenth year!
You may not want to think about it, but summer is over and it’s that time of year to start considering the Christmas shopping again! And what better place to start looking for unique and thoughtful gifts than the Hyde End Craft Show, an undercover treasure trove of individual presents for those you love – or maybe to treat yourself with.
Over eighty craftsmen and artists will be attending the Hyde End Craft Show, with a wide variety of different stalls, so there really is something for everyone. For Grandma, or mum, how about a lacy scarf or warm alpaca shawl? We have a vast array of jewellery in an assortment of beautiful styles from the traditional, to the Celtic to the innovative; we even have leaf jewellery, or earrings made of glass. If they enjoy scented things for the bathroom we have a wealth of handmade bath goodies, and perfumed candles. Ladies’ clothes, accessories and handbags from local producers or abroad add to an already difficult choice.
Or for the men in your life, how about a pair of cufflinks made of genuine original coins; or a wood turned pen, or a glass tankard? A hand-crafted walking stick may be just the thing, or a pyrographed clock, or maybe an original painting or photograph for the wall? We have sculptures in clay, resin, wood and glass so there’s something for even the most difficult-to-buy-for man!
For the children? Wooden hand-painted toys, homemade teddy bears and a collection of clothes which will leave you spoilt for choice! Little bags and wooden boxes for their treasures or maybe a mug especially for them?
The finished products are wonderful, but part of the fun of a craft fair is watching them being made, and we have plenty of opportunities for this. The hourly demonstrations by our family of glass blowers are always packed out and you will see a rather stunning wine glass being produced out of a pile of sand. The blacksmiths will be working all day, and a host of other traditional country crafts will be entertaining you in their own marquee.
Then of course there are the chainsaw carvers. These talented artists will be working on large commission pieces over the weekend, as well as smaller pieces – an excellent opportunity to buy a very special gift, or maybe something for your own garden or conservatory.
For the foodies in your life, or the cupboards in your own kitchen, we also now have our Fine Food Halls. You will be tempted by the myriad of different flavours of homemade cheese, gin, fudge, or sausages, and with the opportunity to taste before you buy on most stalls, the decision will be made even more difficult! There is hand reared meat; hampers of chocolate; sauces and pickles and drizzling oils… It is quite simply delicious. A marquee to wander around slowly, and probably more than once!
While you’re in there, take time to stop for the best coffee or hot chocolate on site at Stuart’s Coffee Lounge. With a wide choice of shots to spice them up, and the most delicious selection of cakes to accompany, it is a well earned break before you carry on with your Christmas shopping.
